The Geodesic Dome is credited as “the first basic improvement in mobile military shelter in 2,600 years” (Lane, Henry. “A Study of Shelter Logistics for Marine Corps Aviation.” 1954). The dome is constructed primarily from triangles, and grows stronger as it gets bigger. See: Synergetics.
